About me

I am a qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist based in Crieff, Perthshire. I established Essence Counselling in 2017. I have counselled within a local GP practice and have been involved with a counselling charity in Perthshire. I am a member of BACP and abide by their ethics and code of conduct ensuring I have regular supervision and continuing professional development.
I am trained to use a range of approaches depending on the needs of my clients. I support my clients with warmth and understanding, encouraging them to use their own personal resources to resolve life’s challenges. I am empathic, accepting and non-judgemental.
I believe the success of counselling depends on having a strong therapeutic relationship and I therefore encourage a first assessment to ensure you feel the type of counselling I offer is right for you.
What can Essence Counselling help me with?
Areas I have helped people explore include anxiety, stress, anger issues, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, family issues, exploring sexuality, spirituality, depression, loneliness, issues arising from physical, emotional and sexual abuse as well as low mood, issues surrounding self-esteem and confidence, and mental health. This is just a small variety of the issues that I can help with.
Please contact me with your queries if there is a particular issue you want help with. No issue is too big or small to bring to counselling.
I work with children, young people and adults.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on you, the issues which you wish to explore and complexity of your situation. Sometimes people find that brief counselling is all they need, or open ended sessions may be required for deeper psychotherapy or self-exploration.
Occasionally only one or two sessions are all that is needed to untangle an issue or solve a problem. We can explore this at assessment.
